Surf s Up Photograph by Alden Corrigan Media Talk Derby To Me 25 000 USHJA International Hunter Derby Presented by Dr Daryl K Hoffman The 25 000 USHJA International Hunter Derby Presented by Dr Daryl K Hoffman is one of the highlights of the Menlo Charity Horse Show The Grass Hunter Field was transformed new fences were added and a classic Derby course was built Truckloads of shrubbery flowers trees and barrels were brought into the field and volunteers joined the course builders to add finishing touches and strategically place decorative foliage MCHS Show Manger Phil DeVita of Apopka Florida shares his thoughts on the volunteer driven transformation I have to say I am partially to blame when Don talked to me months and months ago he said What can we do to really make it pop I said You can t get enough trees be very careful what you wish for a little over 100 beautiful trees it is so over the top so awesome and the presentation is just incredible The in gate with trees and straw bales the wonderful islands placed around the arena jumps that are decorated beautifully with moss brush and cedar it is just so unbelievable It is exactly what we should expect at Menlo DeVita continued to explain why the horses were not hand walked around the course with the riders We are for real here and it is the same for everyone I think this is the finest event in California and we want to keep it that way It is
